AEROSPACE DESIGN ENGINEER CAD / SOLIDWORKS Our client are actively resourcing for a skilled Aerospace Design Engineers with working knowledge on CAD SOLIDWORKS Experience within the aviation / aerospace sector beneficial. Duties: • Undertaking CAD design support for airframe modifications to one aircraft type. • The Design support involved the capability of toolset and aerospace processes defined by client • The tasking will involve supervised management from client • The role does not involve any management of staff. Responsibility • Generating the metallic and composite structural designs for all structural components and systems equipment interfaces on the aircraft utilising aerospace methods and processes across all phases of the engineering design lifecycle. • Supporting aircraft component design configuration control involving CAD data and documentation necessary for product manufacture through to a preliminary design phase. • In conjunction with the mechanical and electrical designers be responsible for systems equipment 3D and 2D interface representation within the structure of the aircraft. • The product design modelling and drawing quality and the assumptions necessary to assure accurate part definition and successful product assembly. • Adherence to the multi-disciplinary requirements and task integration to take CAD structures and equipment design through to design sign off for manufacture and certification. • For structural integrity and product safety, the successful candidate will be discipline capable of attaining in the medium term a Design signature. • Ensure the appropriate application and adherence of Structures Design engineering standards and methods in the design of structure and systems integration components. • Generation of technical memorandums, CAD models, 2D drawings, design reports, Product Manager (PM) data management documentation and Bill of Materials (BOM). Experience: The candidate should have 3 to 5 years of design and CAD experience. Knowledge: • A working knowledge of 3D and 2D modelling of parts, structural features, systems and equipment integration and assembly generation with appropriate technical assumptions. Should have a familiarity with cross discipline techniques. • A working knowledge of managing a Product and Lifecycle management tool to configuration control the product standard. • Have some knowledge of Military or Civil design regulations. • A working knowledge of the design lifecycle and the level of analysis required at each stage. Skills/Abilities/Competencies: • Capable of attaining a design drawing signature. • Knowledge of aerospace structural design working practices. • Capable of cross discipline liaison and design support. • Knowledge of 3D CAD part and assembly modelling, 2D CAD drawing generation, DFM practices, and Interface Control for the structural design of metallic and composite structures. • Knowledge of how to use Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) practices with familiarity with a PLM tool such as PLM, Windchill, metaphase, 3D Experience etc. • Be familiar with CAD systems, preferably 3D experience such as Solidworks or Catia V4, V5 or V6. • Knowledge of the behaviour of composite structures and best design practices. • Good report writing skills and familiarity with MS Office suite. Other Requirements: • A good understanding of aeronautical design methods. • Experienced and able to produce specifications and provide technical supplier management. • Ability to work with overall vehicle performance and other systems design groups within the Company. • Must have the necessary authority to work in the UK. • Able to obtain security clearance. • Ability and willingness to travel in-country or overseas to visit suppliers. Contract - 6 months duration. HYBRID Operation - One Day per week at clients Bedforshire facility
