Techniche are supporting a leading automotive manufacturer to appoint Cost & Supply Chain Engineer for their site in Cranfield.    Pay Rate:             Up to £30.78/hour PAYE+ holiday and pension pay Location:             Cranfield, Bedfordshire - hybrid (3 days working in the office; 2 days WFH) Duration:             12 months initially Working hours:  39 core working hours Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-1.20pm    In this role you will also be given a specific Engineering Commodity to work on where you will be responsible to lead the development of a Cockpit &/or Interior Component from Quality/Cost/Delivery point of view. This includes the preparation of parts development schedules, ensuring the company’s NEM/NDS/NES performance are met, analysing technical and cost data, leading concern investigations, managing suppliers and communicating cross-functionally with other Design sections and other functions. Key responsibilities: Quote analysis – Piece Cost & Vendor Tooling (not just technical, but interrogation of commercial factors i.e overheads, plant layout, global economics etc.) Management of Tier 1 supplier through regular meetings to ensure transparent, and optimized quotations. Fast paced reporting to Senior Management (i.e. quote vs budget – gap analysis via skyline / graphical formats) Supporting the wider team with ‘Engineering estimates’ for component piece cost and vendor tooling Maintenance of cost databases Involvement in Sourcing phase inc. RFQ creation Ensuring the teams commodity budgets are realistic. Generation of cost reduction ideas As you would expect, being a global organization, working cross functionally across the business (inc. R&D, Product Planning & Market Intelligence) will be an essential part of the role. Alongside the key responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to be involved in wider spread activities, for example: Supplier testing tracking / costs / results (STRS) Benchmarking (A2mac1) Regulation / Interior Fittings Compliance (ECE-R 21) Design change; release / tracking / adoption plans Quality/Reliability improvements Key applicant attributes required: Eye for detail Organized and methodical Fact/data driven mindset. Proactive and motivated to challenge the supplier when opportunities become apparent. A team player Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel & PowerPoint mainly. Deliverables and KPIs Achieve cost target (piece price / VT, cost reduction) Achieve quality target (NEVQS, warranty) Achieve project KPI’s (Key performance indicators) Technical solutions for development / market concern On time design note release / delivery Qualifications/Skills Required:  Previous automotive design and development experience. Previous experience of cost breakdown analysis and working in a technical/commercial cross functional team. Prior knowledge of interior cabin parts / modules Prior knowledge of manufacturing processes Valid driving licence and able to travel globally
