Contract Development Engineer

Our client, a specialist engineering consultancy, requires a development engineer for a contract role outside IR35. RESPONSIBILITIES: Hardware Testing and Validation: * Carry out the development and execution of comprehensive hardware test programs at the full product or system level. * Conduct hands-on testing of prototypes, including operating with instrumentation, data acquisition, and real-world scenario testing. * Support required HW uplifts, SW flashing and diagnosis through CAN and Ethernet communication. * Review and take ownership of test plans, understand test requirements against design requirements and provide feedback on test procedures to ensure proper test execution. Field Testing and Issue Resolution: * Work in the field with prototype vehicles, identifying and addressing hardware issues. * Collaborate closely with the Design and Development team to ensure seamless testing and resolution of hardware-related challenges. * Document and communicate issues and resolutions effectively to all relevant stakeholders. * Lead planning for parts, people, logistics and facilities to execute testing including risk assessments. Test Program Delivery: * Ensure the successful delivery of planned test programs, meeting project timelines and objectives. * Continuously optimise and refine test procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Documentation and Reporting: * Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all testing activities, including test plans, procedures, and results. * Generate comprehensive reports on hardware performance and contribute to post-test analysis. * Provide clear and concise documentation for issue tracking and resolution. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * 3+ years of experience. * Good problem-solving and hands-on abilities. * Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and resources at the same time. * Self-starter with high levels of motivation and strong desire to continue learning. * Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills coupled with a strong work ethic. * Understanding of vehicle systems and system interactions. * Understanding of the vehicle testing process. * Knowledge of automotive testing instrumentation and tools. * Strong data analysis and reporting experience. * Experience setting up vehicles for specific test requirements
