Role: Category Strategy Specialist Location: Pinner Salary: Up to £55, 000 (+5% annual bonus & excellent benefits) Responsibilities of the Category Strategy Specialist are as follows: * Take ownership of the strategic direction of the organisation's supply chain, transforming purchasing processes from commodity-led to category-led * Develop and implement competitive sourcing strategies for category and commodity spend * Combine category spending on related commodities in collaboration with other companies within the group * Lead internal process improvement to enable efficiency within the department * Calculate, track and measure results to drive continuous improvement, recognising the true cost of both direct and indirect procurement using KPI’s * Establish the commercial framework in which suppliers operate, encouraging cost competitiveness, cost avoidance and value improvement. The ideal Category Strategy Specialist will have the following skills/experience: * Professional qualification in purchasing (CIPS / MCIPS) – degree qualified or equivalent * Strategic Supply Chain / procurement experience within a manufacturing/ engineering environment, ideally in a high-compliance industry * Proven category management, supplier relationship and negotiation skills * Be available for regular overseas travel The successful Category Strategy Specialist will join a elite Defence manufacturing organisation occupying a challenging, autonomous role.
