BIW Process Engineer £33 per hour outside IR35 Castle Bromwich - on site full time The team are responsible for the development, introduction and launch of all new / modified processes & facilities associated with new model introductions and model year changes, within Bodyshop assembly facility. The team is developing to support all future West Midlands Bodyshop developments for the future range of vehicles. The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing our new, technologically advanced Bodyshop assembly facilities that are currently under design and manufacture to support the global BIW initiatives. You will be a key part of the BIW Delivery team, working closely with Product Development Engineers, Facility & Tooling vendors and Production Operations team to ensure that Bodyshop facility delivers to meet world class quality and efficiency standards. GME BIW Delivery are on a journey, and we are looking for individuals who can bring experience to take us to the next level of futuristic / innovative Bodyshops. Role Responsibilities; - You will utilise your knowledge to Plan, Develop and Implement BIW assembly processes and facilities to deliver the Safety, Quality, Timing and Cost objectives - Provide feasibility statements for Product Development designs to suit manufacturing build requirements. - Ensure robust process quality planning including virtual build simulations and PFMEA's - Support virtual build events raising and championing issues where appropriate. - Support of physical builds at workshop, pilot build and Manufacturing Plant locations, raising and managing issues where appropriate. - Evaluate suitability of manufacturing technologies for a wide range of applications - i.e joining technologies, transfer systems, logistics, etc. - Prepare, issue and evaluate supplier "Request for Quotations." - Assembly process & equipment verification at suppliers and at home manufacturing facility. - Support problem solving on complex issues to support achievement of KPI's. - Support management activities through development and monitoring of timing plans. - Support new model planning through development of process estimates against study requests. - Ensure adherence to company and departmental operating processes and policies. - Manage technical issues, offering guidance to the team and escalating where appropriate. - Achieve Equipment Capability targets of all new & modified facilities, including OPR, MTTR, MTBF. - Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time Skills & Experience - Experience in delivering and launching BIW assembly line facilities including: - Strong complex problem-solving skills & investigation of quality issues, manual station over cycles, effective reporting and stakeholder management. - Project management experience of delivering new or modified equipment into a production facility. - Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or above, preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or Mech/Elec combined) and/or suitable engineering experience in BIW manufacturing - Proficient computer skills, conversant with Microsoft applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Catia - Candidates should be self-motivated with sound business behaviours and communication skills. - Willingness to learn and continue to learn as the business environment evolves. - Ability to travel to Midland's locations to support client expansion. - Team player who can communicate and challenge with all levels of the organisation. - Ability to work within cross-functional teams and take task ownership to deliver results. - Flexible approach to work with willingness to work additional hours or weekends and support during peak shutdown windows. - Ability to plan & prioritise workstreams to deliver objectives effectively - Be customer focused and have awareness business need - Must be able to form good working relationships at all levels and areas within internal and external organisations - The BIW Delivery team, work within a fast paced, changing environment - the ideal candidate needs to be a resilient character who would thrive within the surroundings.
