Automotive Engine Test Engineers Based on site in Bedford (Day Shift, 40 hours per week) 2 vacancies available 1 year + Engine Test experience - salary up to £33,000 2 years + Engine Test experience - salary up to £50,000 What would the Engine Test Engineer do? To deliver engineering objectives set by the Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager. Generate engine installation packs and schematics for accurate test bed setups. Identify engine/test delivery faults and collaborate with others to find effective solutions. Processing and validation of engine test data. Analysing engine data and understanding correct trends and causes for concern. Supporting colleagues as required to achieve wider goals. Track project efficiency and maintain project related invoicing. Devise and lead initiatives to reduce waste and optimise efficiency. Take active part in regular customer update meetings. What skills and experience will the Engine Test Engineer need? Automotive/Mechanical Engineering HND, Degree OR relevant experience of testbed operation will be considered in place of qualifications. Experience in an automotive engineering discipline. Test bed experience in an automotive testing environment. Excellent understanding of gasoline and diesel engine mechanical fundamentals. Instrumentation experience (thermocouples, pressure transducers etc.). Able to create test automation procedures/schedules with a view to maximise automated running. Working closely with customer engineering teams to establish and carry out test programs. Experience of a wide variety of engine types would be advantageous (Petrol, Diesel, High Performance, Heavy Duty, Alternative Fuels). This advert represents a summary of the full role description.
