Job Title: Assembly Process Engineer Location: Buckinghamshire Salary: £Attractive Job Type: Full-time Shift: 8-4.30pm Mon-Friday --- Position Key Responsibilities MDE are looking for a skilled Assembly Process Engineer to lead process optimisation efforts on the assembly line, improve manufacturing techniques, and support the introduction of new products for our client in Buckinghamshire. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all assembly processes meet quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) targets while working closely with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement (CI) and new product introduction (NPI) projects. Assembly Process Improvement & Manufacturing Responsibilities Continuously evaluate and optimise assembly processes to achieve maximum efficiency, quality, and delivery. Implement continuous improvement (CI) methods to drive advancements in QCD performance across assembly operations. Manage and maintain process documentation, including PFMEA, Control Plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assembly processes. Develop and support efficient assembly processes for new product introduction (NPI). Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives related to assembly methods, tools, and materials. Work closely with Quality Engineering to resolve assembly defects and lead root cause analysis for process improvements. Lead CI teams within the assembly area, focusing on eliminating bottlenecks and increasing overall process efficiency. Project Support Responsibilities Support project teams to achieve Phase Exit milestones related to assembly processes. Provide expertise in Design for Assembly (DfA), ensuring that products are designed for smooth and efficient assembly. Participate in DFMEA activities to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies. Conduct individual part reviews and contribute to CTS (Component Tooling Specifications) for new projects. Lead and support Pre-Series builds to ensure assembly processes are fully production-ready. Provide ongoing support to assembly operations until successful project closure (Phase 7). Required Skills and Experience Proven experience as an Assembly Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of assembly process optimisation, including hands-on experience with continuous improvement (CI) techniques. Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, and DFMEA methodologies. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage CI teams, driving significant improvements in QCD. Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and working with cross-functional project teams. Expertise in Design for Assembly (DfA) principles. Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work across departments such as quality, engineering, and production. Why Join Us?
