Weight and Balance Engineer - Aircraft Structures Contract Outside IR35 12 months Hybrid, 3 days per week in Bristol office Start ASAP Role Overview: This role focuses on the design and development of airframe structural systems. The selected candidates will play a critical role in optimizing structural components and ensuring their compliance with weight and balance specifications. The position requires providing skilled resources to support the completion of specific design packages. Responsibilities: * Perform detailed analysis of component weight properties, including mass, centre of gravity, and inertia, to inform design improvements. * Establish and manage weight targets for individual components and assemblies, monitor progress toward these targets, and identify risks or opportunities related to weight optimization. * Verify calculated weights by performing physical measurements on parts, subassemblies, and components during production. * Actively participate in design evaluations, weight management reviews, and discussions on potential weight reduction strategies. * Work closely with interdisciplinary engineering teams to ensure structural designs achieve weight efficiency while meeting functional requirements.
