Job Title: Supplier QM Engineering Senior Engineer Location: Ryton (3 days office / 2 from home) Rate: Upto £30.73ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or £23.39ph PAYE Employment Type: Contract (12 months) Hours: Standard 40 Hours Per Week Reference: J39800 The Opportunity The purpose of the role is to develop the capacity and quality performance of all new and existing Aftermarket component suppliers of parts, for the Service Sector. To support the planning, monitoring and controlling supplier manufacturing processes and activities to enable high quality and on time execution of product programmes effectively and efficiently whilst maintaining and improving current part performance. This will include conducting supplier assessment as part of the Global Sourcing Process, helping to deliver PPAP, managing Supplier and initiated changes and improving on-going performance of suppliers to assist in guaranteeing a flawless supply. Key tasks: Will be to review PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) , and approve PSW's (Part submission warrants) for our clien's Classic suppliers. Key Performance Indicators • Supplier quality and delivery performance metrics • PPAP PSW submission achievement • MSA achievement • Aftermarket Sourcing Process concurrence achievement Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities • Site development/ Manufacturing site assessment • Supplier site improvement • Improve quality systems and drive continuous improvement • Support Buyers and GSP at SBR to ensure robust selection processes for suppliers • Suppoort review of DFMEA and lead review of PFMEA and control plans. • Support Suppliers in Advanced Product Quality Planning • Support suppliers in the Phased Production Part Approval Process to achieve timely PSW submissions • Launch support (high impact suppliers) • 8-D concern resolution • Warranty reduction • Schedule and conduct field action/stop shipment reviews in cases of supplier responsible concerns • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time Key Interactions: • Purchase • Product Development/ Engineering • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering • Supply Chain MP&L • Other STA Functions • Expernal Suppliers Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential: A passion for quality and attention to detail, with an analytical mindset Experience within a Vehicle Engineering/Quality function and familiar with the Global Product Development System Knowledge and experience of APQP/PPAP/PSW Able to facilitate resolution of complex cross-functional issues Sound knowledge of problem solving tools and techniques Good leadership/negotiation/communication & interpersonal skills Able to operate effectively at all levels of the organisation Self-motivated & able to work on their own initiative Computer literate No restrictions for European travel Full UK driving license (essential) Desirable: Qualified to degree level within an engineering or business discipline Experience of working with overseas suppliers Lean / Six Sigma Certification Personal Profile Essential: A passion for the automotive industry This role involves significant travel, and there may be occasions where you are required to work unsociable hours An analytical mindset with the ability to multitask Comfortable challenging others with strong influencing and engagement skills - able to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style Desirable: Resilient and enthusiastic, an individual able to deliver results under pressure, whilst responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs A dynamic and determined individual, highly driven, committed and results-orientated with significant pace, energy and confidence.
