Job Opportunity: HGV Maintenance Supervisor Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced HGV Maintenance Supervisor to lead their team in maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard. This role is perfect for a technician with strong leadership abilities and a passion for ensuring the highest standards of vehicle maintenance. Job Role and Responsibilities: As the HGV Maintenance Supervisor, you will oversee the routine maintenance and repair of all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standards. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing and rectifying various faults, ensuring that all vehicles are maintained to the highest safety and functionality standards. A significant part of your role will involve coordinating the response to disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer premises. You'll ensure that all vehicles are handled carefully and that necessary precautions are taken while on the premises. Effective communication with the parts department is crucial to secure the necessary parts for repairs and maintenance work. You will be expected to adhere to all Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices, ensuring your team does the same. Accurate record-keeping is essential, and you will ensure all job cards, service sheets, and vehicle maintenance records are completed in a timely manner. Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness in the workshop is also important. You will need to keep your product knowledge current and attend training courses as required. Following company routines regarding warranty, contract, and retail business is essential. You will work closely with foremen and the workshop controller to ensure smooth operations and provide support to both parts and administration teams when needed. Key Duties: Oversee routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standards. Diagnose and rectify various types of faults. Coordinate response to disabled vehicles at the roadside or customer premises. Ensure vehicles are handled carefully and all precautions are taken on premises. Communicate with the parts department to obtain necessary parts. Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices. Ensure accurate and timely completion of all job cards, service sheets, and vehicle maintenance records. Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment. Keep product knowledge current and attend training courses. Follow company routines regarding warranty, contract, and retail business. Liaise with foremen and workshop controller to ensure smooth business operations. Provide support to parts and administration teams as needed. Ideal Experience and Skills: Candidates with the following experience and skills will be particularly desirable: A technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ) or proven experience in repairing and maintaining vehicles. Previous experience with Scania vehicles, while not essential, would be beneficial. A current driving licence. An LGV/HGV licence would be advantageous, though not required. Experience with trailer running gear, specifically SAF/BPW systems.
