Senior Final Inspector Permanent Position Excellent salary/package (Holiday: 25 days + 8 Statutory Days, Pension up to 8% matched, Life Assurance: 5x Basic Salary) Growing Manufacturing Business On-site in Birmingham My client are a precision manufacturing business, based in Birmingham, specialising in machining and assembly of high value low volume components. The Senior Inspector will be a hands-on inspector of product, but will also hold full responsibility for the final inspection department and inspection team. Main function is to manage the timely assessment of manufactured product from internal and external sources, and ensure all product entering and leaving is fully compliant with the customer requirements. The Senior Inspector will be required to provide a fully comprehensive and proactive approach to their role and have a detailed understanding of engineering drawings and standard inspection techniques. They will be detail orientated, hands-on, can-do individual who has the ability to support and coordinate various departmental requirements. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the role will focus on efficient management of the final inspection process whilst providing support to the quality team as required. Senior Final Inspector Job Description Owner and accountable leader of the final inspection department including the team that operates within it. Be able to Inspect all incoming product to confirm conformance to drawing and specifications. Inspect product using standard gauging and inspection techniques. Review all incoming product to ensure suppliers have fully complied with the purchase order, drawing and specification requirements. Review associated paperwork to product to ensure full traceability of processes Ability to prioritise workload and work on own initiative to achieve required deadlines. Represent the final inspection department at all operational meetings and take ownership for any actions or prioritisation requirements that may arise. Ownership of any non-conformance found in the area and utilise data to drive improvements back upstream within the business. QRDR (NCR) management Assist in the delivery of key activities and projects as required. Produce and log data to supply reports and analysis of quality Certification and Documentation as and when required. Demonstrate outstanding organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work pre-emptively and thinking ahead at all times with multiple solutions to hand for any given scenario. The ability to work with little direction in a proactive and ambassadorial manner. Working to very tight and constantly changing deadlines with absolute discretion. Provide back up to the quality team’s covering holiday leave and / or supporting overflow activities as deemed appropriate by Quality Manager. Keep accurate and up to date data and ensuring that is maintained in relation to Quality Administration / Certification. Promote quality achievement and performance throughout the organisation. Ensure that any discrepancies with certification or product is highlighted, investigated and resolved prior to release. Raise any concerns or barriers when reviewing certification / documentation that may delay products being booked to stores or released to manufacture. Help to improve / develop standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and procedures to document the Final process and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Raise relevant quality related training needs where appropriate. Support the quality team in relation to the procedures for ISO 9001 and 14001. Ensure that SOP’s are adhered to, deviations from process should be highlighted and if necessary, the SOP reviewed to ensure the process is correct and up to date. Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures. Be a positive role model in promoting the requirements of the Quality Control Culture and ensuring others operate with the same values. Participate in cross functional teams. Ensure continued communication and good relationships with external and internal stakeholders. Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested Actively participate in companywide projects as required  Senior Final Inspector Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications At least 4 years relevant experience in standard gauging inspection using Callipers, Micrometre’s, thread gauges, height gauges etc. Strong team leadership skills focusing on both management, but also development for the team. Experience of managing and influencing stakeholders both internally and externally. Excellent and proven interpersonal skills (written and oral) and customer facing skills.  Senior Final Inspector Desirable Skills / Experience / Qualifications CMM capability with MCOSMOS software would be advantageous but not essential
