SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER - INSIDE IR35 - VIA UMBRELLA - £35 PER HOUR + 20% UPLIFT - UNDERGO SC - 12 MONTHS - MUST HAVE HNC/HND Yolk Recruitment are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our client an initial period of 12 months over in Stevenage. The role does offer alternating shift work from Monday to Friday with an additional 20% uplift. These shifts would be from 06:00 - 14:00 and from 14:00 to 22:00 every other week. Essential Requirements: High mechanical skills and relevant experience. Proficient in writing procedures and process control. Willingness to work offsite (UK and abroad) for undefined periods at short notice. Flexibility to work overtime and shifts when requested. Ability to support out-of-normal-hours work using the "on-call" rota process. Practical and proactive approach to work. Quality-driven mindset with high attention to detail. Knowledge and experience in the production of high-quality documentation (test specs, test plans, test procedures, AIT Plans, DDV plans). High self-motivation and ability to handle changing priorities on a multi-project basis. Strong problem-solving skills (technical, logistics, and organizational). Good planning skills and process competence (MRP system experience is an advantage). Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Previous experience with payload builds is a distinct advantage. Good time management skills. Appreciation of satellite integration processes and project phases. Familiarity with the satellite appendage installation process (Solar Array, reflectors, antennas, deployable systems).Skills/Experience Required: Essential: Good understanding and detailed experience of complex mechanical systems. Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, including 5S, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Experience in providing support to production teams on the shop floor. Ability to prepare and conduct environmental tests (Vibration, Acoustic, Mass properties, Thermal) at various levels. Proficient in handling and installing thermal hardware (heaters, thermistors). Mechanical integration of electronic units, subsystems, instruments, mechanisms, antennas, solar arrays, mechanical subsystems, instruments, payloads, and spacecraft, including control of associated documentation and processes. Minimum of HNC level in a Mechanical discipline. A lesser qualification is acceptable if a high level of similar industry experience can be demonstrated
