Piper Maddox are working with an exciting SME in Oxfordshire that designs, tests and manufactures Electric Motors and Inverters for vehicles. After winning a number of projects from exciting clients across the world, they are looking to grow their internal Engineering team. One key hire they are looking to make is a Technical Specialist Mechanical Engineer that can act as the Lead for all Mechanical Engineering. The ideal person will likely come from an EDU background and be familiar with the design and integration of Motor, Inverter, Gears and other adjacent systems. This is an important position within the business as they expand their product range and team over the coming years. This opportunity would grant you the chance to embed yourself in a small business with short processes and quick decision making, whilst working on exciting clean-technology for the vehicle industry. What you will be doing? - Using SolidWorks to design the mechanical aspects of Electric Motors, Inverters and associated components with appropriate GD&T - Undertake appropriate FEA to optimize your designs - Assisting the team in developing test procedures, DFMEA and upholding internal standards - Working within a small team on a varied projects for the e-mobility sector What we are looking for: - Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline - Significant industry experience with the Mechanical Design of rotating machinery. Ideally with Electric Motors, Inverters and Gearboxes - Proficient with 3D CAD Tools (Solidworks preferred but not essential). - Strong understanding and ability to apply first principal thinking skills with appropriate calculations to generate designs - Any further skills with Cooling systems, Stress analysis and systems integration would be considered a bonus!
