Resident Engineer – Quality Liaison | Automotive Manufacturing Location: Chichester, West Sussex Contract: Ongoing (Full-Time, On-Site) Rate: Competitive (with staged margin agreement) We are recruiting for a Resident Engineer to be based on-site at a high-end automotive manufacturing facility in Chichester. This is a hands-on, quality-focused role acting as the liaison between the vehicle assembly team and an overseas component supplier. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of automotive quality processes and be comfortable working directly on the production line to resolve component issues and support continuous improvement. 🔍 Key Responsibilities: * Act as the on-site point of contact for quality concerns related to supplier components * Attend point-of-fit to assess reported issues and agree immediate containment actions * Document quality concerns clearly and report back to the overseas supplier plant * Drive supplier engagement to implement corrective actions at their site * Provide regular updates to on-site quality teams, ensuring issues are tracked to resolution * Maintain clear records of issues, actions, and outcomes for traceability ⚙️ Typical Issues Handled: * Incorrect or missing component labels * Damaged or defective parts * Appearance-related concerns * Short shots or incomplete moulding * Missing clips or minor assembly errors ✅ Requirements: * Proven experience in a quality-focused engineering role (Resident Engineer, SQE, Quality Engineer, etc.) * Automotive or high-precision manufacturing background preferred * Strong problem-solving skills (e.g. 8D, 5 Whys, root cause analysis) * Confident communicator with the ability to liaise across teams and with external suppliers * Hands-on, proactive mindset with excellent attention to detail This is a great opportunity to join a fast-paced automotive environment with a strong focus on quality and collaboration.
