Due to growth within the SIX Engineering team we have a requirement for an additional product safety engineer to join us. Reporting in to the Engineering Safety Manager the primary purpose of this position will see you responsible for the undertaking of safety-related engineering tasks within a project or during product development ensuring systems are safe and fit for purpose and meet regulatory safety requirements. A highly visible role you will interact with other business functions such as systems engineering, programme management, product development, product managers, design authorities and technical leads. Key Responsibilities * Capture and manage programme / project and product safety requirements * Chair safety-related meetings * Compile and present Safety Cases in accordance with the safety management plans and Thales programme management procedures * Develop product and system hazard logs using recognised hazard identification techniques * Undertake safety assessment to support safety claims and safety cases * Develop ALARP arguments and justifications for safety related risks * Assist in the development and implementation of system safety management processes, procedures and plans Required Knowledge * Degree level or equivalent in relevant technical field (e.g. electrical, mechanical engineering) * Typically at least five years in system safety * Knowledge of system safety engineering processes * System Safety Standards (essential) POSMS / DefStan 00-56 * Knowledge of UK Health & Safety Legislation * Preparation of Safety Management Plans and Safety Cases * MOD Standards, DSA, JSP’s etc (desirable) * Broad understanding of electrical, electronic and mechanical technologies – understanding of RF and/or RadHaz considerations would be (desirable) In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
