As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the technical ownership of power electronic circuits from concept to validation. You will be responsible for delivering development activities within specified timescales and cost targets for R&D products and customer projects. This role requires collaboration with various engineering disciplines and active participation in system integration, debugging, and validation support. The successful candidate will lead design, functional safety, and process development activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Company Benefits: - Pension scheme (5% contribution from you, 4% from us) - Health Cash Plan - Cycle Scheme - Electric Car Leasing Scheme - Retail discounts - Generous holiday entitlement - 25 days plus birthday off - Career development and performance reviews - Flexible working - An easily commutable office - Free on-site car-parking (with free charging for electric cars) - Complimentary refreshments Power Electronics Key Responsibilities: - Take technical ownership of power electronic circuits through concept, development, and validation phases. - Deliver development activities to meet timescales and cost targets for R&D products and customer projects. - Interface with suppliers and partners, providing technical requirements and feedback for existing and new designs. - Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to develop complete systems. - Support system integration by offering debugging capability and validation support. - Lead design and functional safety activities. - Lead process development activities. - Support the planning of power electronics-related activities. - Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, quality requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). - Assist in achieving and maintaining quality certifications, working within relevant guidelines. Power Electronics Requirements: - Degree qualified in an Engineering or Science-related discipline. - Minimum 5 years, preferably 10 years, of extensive experience in power electronics design. - Experience in motor drive design, including inverters, DC-DC converters, and high-speed motors. - Proficient in schematic capture and PCB layout tools, such as Altium. - Experience in mathematical modeling and simulation of circuits and systems (e.g., SPICE, PLECS, SiMetrix). - Familiarity with reliability, risk, or safety analysis tools (FTA, DFMEA). - Qualification of systems to automotive standards (e.g., ISO16750), including EMC and environmental testing. - Understanding of functional safety analysis, design, and validation to standards such as ISO26262 or similar. - Appreciation of rotating machine design and motor principles. - Ability to write technical documentation (e.g., Worst Case Analysis). - Experience with analog circuit design, high voltage, and current sensing techniques. - Familiarity with different inverter topologies, Snubber Designs, double pulse testing. - Designing electrical power systems to meet creepage and clearances for operation up to 1kV. Hours of Work: Monday to Friday permanent days. Please note 5-days per week are required to work in the office
