Brief overview of the role:
This apprenticeship is the Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician standard programme with City West Commercials in Avonmouth, BS11 9BY. The right candidate will work alongside Daimler qualified Technicians to receive extensive training in maintaining HGVs.

Working week:
Monday - Friday (08:00 - 16:30)

Vacancy description:
Remit are proud to be partnered with City West Commercials to deliver their Daimler HGV Technician apprenticeships.
If you have an interest in the motor industry and want to work in a hands-on role where you can problem solve and make a real contribution as part of a team, this apprenticeship is the perfect place to start!

• Work alongside a qualified Technician to learn how to carry out repairs according to Daimler procedures in a safe and responsible manner
• Be trained on how to service, maintain and repair Daimler vehicles which have the latest technology
• Learn the fundamentals of heavy vehicle technologies – heavy vehicle chassis, engine, fuels, transmissions, hydraulic and air braking, electrical systems, and testing
• Be taught how to setup accessories and specific equipment on the vehicles
• Ensure appropriate work logs are kept for all vehicles, and all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
• Keep high levels of morale and focus to ensure the highest possible levels of productive efficiency, quality of workmanship, and production finish in order to sustain growth in customer confidence in the service provided

City West are currently in the process of reviewing their apprenticeship salaries, so the salary is subject to change.

Requirements and prospects

Qualifications Required:
• No previous automotive qualifications are required
• GCSE 9 - 4 (A* - C) or Function Skills Level 2 in Maths and Enlglish
• Predicted GCSE grades are acceptable - please note the apprenticeship offer is subject to final GCSE results

Desired skills:
• A logical approach to problem solving
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work methodically and follow instructions
• Ability to work well both independently and in a team

Personal Qualities:
• An interest in the motor industry and motor mechanics
• Interested in a hands-on role
• Proactive attitude and enthusiasm for learning new skills
• Punctual with good timekeeping
• Motivation to succeed and work to a high standard

Training to be provided:
Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release to Remit/Daimler’s Automotive Academy in Coventry. There are a total of 16 x 1 week blocks over the 32 month programme. The costs of hotel accommodation, food and travel are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you.

You will also receive 1-2-1 support from your Development Coach to help you achieve:
• IMI Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3

Future Prospects:
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will achieve an automotive industry recognised qualification. After this we will continue to invest in your future, by providing training and development opportunities so you can excel in your role and further your skills and experience as a fully qualified Technician.
