As part of this growth, we are now actively seeking an experienced Plant Engineer on a permanent basis. In this role, you will work alongside a small and growing team of Professional Engineers in new product development and industrialisation of Automotive Batteries. Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing Engineering, this position will be focused on managing the technical aspects of the pilot plant and support equipment, including troubleshooting, process development and process improvement. The Plant Engineer will be involved in creating and maintaining stable and reliable processes and plant equipment through the application of sound engineering practices. The Engineer will be involved with customer projects and proposals in the implementation of next-generation plant for Battery technology, utilising knowledge gained from experience. On offer to the successful candidate is a negotiable (albeit dependent on relevant experience) basic salary, together with a full flexible benefits package. Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Project management and equipment vendor liaison. Minimise downtime, lean manufacturing principles and plant reliability. Maintain reports and inspection records of all associated plant equipment. Collaborate with various departments to maintain mechanical integrity of all plant programs. Ensure compliance to regulatory and legislative requirements. Supervise and develop less experienced engineers and technicians. Responsible for planning own work within a project. Coordinating work with other professional engineers or support staff to meet specified project aims, based on a general approach set out by a Project Lead. Contribute and own team discussions on problem-solving and work planning. The impact of the role is mainly cross-functional with technical, Facilities, HSE functions. The most challenging parts of the role include identifying the best approach to solving plant faults and creating concise engineering reports and recovery plans.Qualifications & Experience ideally required: Should ideally have a Degree in Mechanical/Electrical / Chemical Engineering, or equivalent qualification (min 2:1), but plenty of relevant experience will be considered. Should have multiple years’ relevant experience in a similar position i.e. Plant Engineer / Commissioning Engineer / Factory Manager etc. A working knowledge of PLM systems is required here (PTC Windchill preferred, though training will be provided). Practical experience in factory and site commissioning is required. Experience in working with DI water, solvent process plant, compressed air, coolant systems, dehumidifiers and other general plant services is needed. Experience of equipment used in lithium-ion Battery products would be really beneficial, but is not mandatory. Knowledge of MES, software control systems and facilities management beneficial. Excellent organisational skills to manage, multiple projects and technical information. Good analytical and practical problem-solving skills. Strong communication and reporting skills. Technical engineering report writing skills (in English). AutoCAD, Inventor, CREO, or similar CAD experience would be really advantageous here.Does this sound like you?
