Job Description: PCB Design Engineer Role Overview: As a PCB designer, your primary responsibilities include capturing circuit diagrams for new electronic designs and creating PCB layouts that adhere to IPC, RF, thermal, and design requirements. You’ll maintain component libraries, collaborate with engineers on PCB analysis, and ensure design integrity. Archiving data, liaising with manufacturers, and releasing design documentation are also key aspects of the role. Key Responsibilities: Produce circuit designs and schematics using Altium PCB design tools. Maintain the Altium component library and 3D models. Analyze PCB designs for RF or thermal issues and provide feedback. Create and maintain documents for PCB manufacturing (BS8888 standards). Investigate and address PCB design problems based on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs). Capture legacy PCB designs for transfer to Altium. Competencies: Effective team player and communicator. Self-prioritization skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Adaptability to changing priorities and willingness to address queries from all staff levels. Qualifications and Experience: HNC in engineering or equivalent. Experience in engineering product life cycle and development phases. Preferably at least 4 years of PCB design experience. Aerospace sector experience is advantageous. Key Measures: Ensure PCB designs are straightforward for manufacturing within agreed timescales. Provide clear and unambiguous documentation to support PCB design. Thoroughly address NCRs as part of the Materials Review Board. Ensure manufacturers can easily use the PCB design data, including Gerber files. Minimize Change Requests due to PCB layout errors in newly released designs
