Paint Technician - Pontypool The Paint Technician role sits within our OE Operations & Logistics team and has primary responsibility for the painting and refinishing of commercial parts using HVLP equipment ensuring that the parts you produce meet both industry, safety and quality standards. Has a right-first-time attitude and a quality-conscious mindset. Is a self-starter, and pro-active member of the team. Key Activities You will need to ensure the surface of the product is ready for paint and feedback any concerns to our preparation department. Ensure surfaces are prepared pre-paint for surface adherence, this may include taping areas prior to paint. Confident in applying “wet on wet” and producing parts to the highest standard meeting all conformity requirements. Mix and match paint according to specifications, ensuring no surfacing issues. Apply paint to surfaces utilising your expertise on the spray guns. Be proficient in using low-bake ovens and responsible for their upkeep and cleanliness. Take responsibility for assessing the quality of products produced within your area through management of and compliance with quality systems. Improve and maintain high levels of Quality on all output from Production to the end Customer. Identify issues with under or over-prepped parts. Actively applied COB with the use of anti-static equipment to minimum inclusions in thermo and thermosetting substrate Identifying and fixing defects in a timely and proficient manner. This may include the application and use of polishing tools. This therefore may mean that you follow your parts into the production arena to ensure a quality product. Ensure high standards of housekeeping and hygiene are always maintained. Ensure the effective supply and movement of parts/products to and from the section, monitoring stock levels and COSHH adherence. To complete any process documentation as required in line with the build instructions. Proactively identify potential roadblocks, working to present solutions to overcome them and working with your team to prevent recurrence and implement permanent preventative actions. Complying with health and safety regulations in your area at all times. Support the escalation of any serious issues to the appropriate level of management as required. Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested by your direct manager Essential Skills & Experience Qualified in City and Guilds Level 3 or IMI refinishing Automotive industry or be time served with demonstratable exposure to an environment with a similar product finish Good knowledge of paint application techniques Ability to mix and match different paint colours Ability to wrok with a variety of tools and equipment Ability to read and interpret technical instructions as required Your CV will be forwarded to Jonathan Lee Recruitment, a leading engineering and manufacturing recruitment consultancy established in 1978.
