Were looking for the best of the best, an Operations Director that ticks almost every box, to drive further forward an already well established manufacturing business. Youll be number two to an often off-site and/or travelling CEO with overall responsibility for the successful running of one local plant, needing to be a day to day shop floor presence, whilst also leading operations globally to improve standards at other plants. It is important that you have experience working for a corporate multi-site manufacturing business, that you have a keen grasp commercially, and that as Operations Director you are comfortable managing through periods of change. You will be leading from the front, setting strategy, taking responsibility for its implementation, and ensuring improvements are made. Supply Chain experience is especially important, but still secondary to the main part of the role: do you know what good looks like for a manufacturing plant, and can you guarantee those standards are always met? The business is well known and successful. They don't need saving, they do very well, but they want to be better. This Operations Director role can be summed up simply: have you previously taken an already successful manufacturing business, in a wide ranging role with a global remit and responsibility for plants all around the world, and been the driving force behind making them all better? Operations Director - Skills and Abilities - Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Divisional Director * An engineering (or equivalent) degree: backed up with at least ten years experience working for a manufacturing / engineering business * Lean and continuous improvement experience: a six sigma black belt is preferred, but practical experience of process improvement is viewed just as favourably * Managed a team of 100 or more: engaging and motivating your management team whilst remaining a visible shop floor presence * Wide ranging manufacturing experience: managing production, design, quality, maintenance and supply chain department heads. Supply chain experience is especially important * Commercial acumen: set strategy for growth, negotiate on high level tenders and win multi-million pound contracts at favourable margins * Great analytical skills: including a history of process improvement / labour savings through well justified CAPEX and data backed * Gravitas: comfortable sitting with MDs and CEOs of FTSE 100 companies on a regular basis * Second-to-none communication skills: maintaining an engaged, resourceful, empowered work force * A clear vision for improvement: do you know how to change a plant in a way that will improve bottom line profits, and do you have the ability to take staff with you on that journey. It is key that you are comfortable in a fluid environment.
