Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be partnered with a leading Aerospace manufacturer in the appointment of an Operations Director, to join the board and lead a multi-site complex manufacturing and machining operation.  Reporting directly to the CEO the Operations Director is part of the executive management team and is required to have a strategic appreciation of the business as well as a detailed understanding of operational issues. The role covers planning and scheduling, production control, longer term horizon planning through sales and operational planning cycle, talent management, and has direct responsibility for asset care and facilities management. Although It is not essential to have direct experience of the manufacturing processes utilised within the company, an exposure to precision machining practices elsewhere is desirable.  Day to day supervision, of the production area is provided through 3 production leaders.  The ongoing development of the ERP system is important for maximising effectiveness and visual management for material flow and product tracking; the role will have responsibility for the generation of data on which to base business and day to day decisions.  Annual budgets are prepared from sales forecasts and monitored monthly. Responsible for ensuring all functions meet the budget/forecast targets and seeking opportunities for ongoing cost efficiencies wherever possible. The key performance indicators for this position are: - Achieving monthly and annual Sales Forecast Productivity Ratios Resource management and expenditure control Implementation of Lean Manufacturing Background & Experience: Qualified mechanical/production engineer Previous operations/manufacturing management experience Experience of operating in a precision engineering environment Able to make decisions under pressure Good communication skills Proven team leader and motivator Experienced in budgeting and ERP systems Previous experience of implementing ‘Lean Manufacturing’ Able to earn respect of both peers and subordinates Sound knowledge of all operations functions Good interpersonal skills – able to relate well to colleagues and customers.
