Mechanical Fitter / HGV Stockport £19.22 p/h 37 hrs Defence Sector We’re on the lookout for a skilled Mechanical Fitter or HGV/Plant Mechanic to join a leading defence manufacturer in Stockport. You’ll be working on specialist bridge launcher systems – assembling and fitting components onto drivable HGV platforms in a clean, modern facility. What You’ll Be Doing: * Fitting mechanical and hydraulic components to military bridge launcher vehicles * Working from drawings and instructions to assemble precision systems * Using hand tools, torque wrenches, verniers and lifting equipment * Ensuring quality and safety standards are met at every stage What We’re Looking For: * Background in mechanical fitting, HGV/plant maintenance or heavy assembly * Confident reading engineering drawings and using workshop tools * Some experience with hydraulics or pneumatics * A team player with a safety-first mindset Bonus If You Have: * Ex-forces (REME) or defence sector experience * Forklift or crane ticket * Welding/fabrication knowledge
