Position: Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Oxfordshire Type: Contract (Outside IR35) Duration: 6 months (likely to extend) Rate: £35 - £40 per hour OUTSIDE IR35 Working Days: 3 days on site a week, 2 days at home Immediate Start: Yes Positions Available: 4 Role Purpose: Working closely with the Lead Designer, you will be responsible for developing engineering designs from initial concept through to production, ensuring solutions meet weight, cost, and timing targets. Operational Duties: Report into various projects through the Design Group, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles across mechanical, composite, and electrical systems. Collaborate with the Lead Designer to develop engineering designs within specified weight, cost, and timing constraints. Create 3D CAD models and 2D detail drawings using Siemens NX and Teamcenter. Attend design reviews, presenting and discussing ideas while reviewing alternative solutions. Collaborate with other departments to meet cost, manufacturing capability, and quality targets. Generate and present project material to customers and key internal/external stakeholders. Contribute to issue solving and rectification processes. Support Business Development with early design concepts as required.Qualifications & Experience: Degree in mechanical, automotive, electrical, or aerospace engineering or equivalent proven experience. Minimum 3 year's experience in design within the automotive or motorsport industry, or relevant experience transferable to an advanced engineering environment. Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter; working knowledge of CATIA V5 is beneficial. Familiarity with proprietary PC software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
