As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for 3D modelling, conceptual design to Modelling, 2D modelling, Design to manufacturing, material selection, and concession/Non-conformance (identifying, documenting, and resolving any non-conformance issues that may arise during the manufacturing process). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to carry out design activities, investigate and analyze non-conformance reports, develop corrective actions, and implement effective solutions to prevent future occurrences. Key Responsibilities: - Carry out detail design activities to meet the requirements of design to manufacture - Conduct thorough investigations of non-conformance issues, including root cause analysis and failure mode analysis. - Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to develop and implement design and corrective actions. - Monitor and track the progress of corrective actions, ensuring timely completion and effectiveness. - Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve non-conformance issues and improve overall product quality. - Maintain accurate documentation of non-conformance reports, investigations, and corrective actions. - Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce non-conformance occurrences. Work Experience Required Skills (Technical Competency): - Proficient in 3D CAD package for both modelling and drawing, ideally Solid Edge - Ability to interpret and create high quality engineering CAD models and manufacturing drawings, including GD&T - Experience in designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gear and Gear box - knowledge about subsystems that impact the mechanical design / layout of the design. - Candidate should be familiar with structural design practices and methodologies, including significant structural redesigns. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. - Previous experience in a similar role within the Aerospace and Defense industry. - Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gear box - Strong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) - Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards. - Proficient in root cause analysis and failure mode analysis techniques. - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. - Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
