This role would suit someone with recent experience as a Vehicle Assembler, previous job titles include Mechanical Assembler, Assembly Operative, Assembly Technician, Auto Engineer, Car Mechanic, and Coach Builder. Ideally you will have mechanical experience within the automotive industry, however this is not essential, e.g. dealing with vehicles like; Coaches, Trucks, Buses, HGV, LGV, Motorhomes, Emergency, Military vehicles, Cars, and Lorries). As an integral member of the team, the Assembly Operative -Mechanical will play a key role in the manufacture of both single deck and double deck buses. You will work in a hand assembly process, ensuring quality and precision in the following tasks: Responsibilities of the Assembly Operative -Mechanical: Assembling and fitting of sub assembly components to the shell of the vehicle to the highest quality standards. Measuring, marking, cutting, and building components. Fitting interior fibreglass components, bonding glass, and securing plastic polymer fittings Installing passenger seats according to engineering layouts. Experience with engine build and fitting battery packs. Finalising buses by adding mirrors, labels, and ensuring panel alignment. Contributing to process improvement. Maintaining a safe, organised workspace using 5S principles. Identifying and addressing quality issues to maintain high standards. The ideal Assembly Operative -Mechanical will have: Experience working with mechanical systems on vehicle conversions. Proficiency with various materials, including aluminium, steel, GRP, plastics, and timber. Competence with relevant tools, such as basic hand tools and air-operated tools. Ability to read and work to engineering drawings. Responsible equipment maintenance. Attention to detail. Punctuality. Familiarity with 5S lean principles.
