Manufacturing Engineer Location: Havant Salary: Circa £40,000 *37.5 hour week *25 days holiday *Pension Scheme; 5% from Employer & 3 - 5 % from Employee *Health cover; Cashback Schemes from dentist, opticians etc. *Life Assurance 4x annual salary The Opportunity: The manufacturing Engineer role needs to offer expertise for the smooth transition from 'Design to Production' ensuring sustainable manufacture of parts throughout the product life-cycle. This should include test solutions and maintenance of assembly tooling to keep production lines running. The role provides Engineering and NPI support plus any other tasks related to the process including any 'special purpose projects' as requested by the engineering manager. The Role & Responsibilities: *Development product and end user application / specifications, including product testing requirements (design / process interface) *Support existing manufacturing lines and new product introduction compilation and update of Manufacturing Instructions *Manufacturing principles and technical specifications to support facilities competencies i.e. test design, injection moulding, electro-mechanical *Participates in concurrent engineering efforts, critical design reviews, Design for Manufacturing and value engineering initiatives as growth opportunities *Develop preliminary layout of the manufacturing and assembly lines in line with the process engineering *Develop, document and improve required tooling and associated test jigs, in a timely manner, by liaising with the design and manufacturing teams, to guarantee product quality and operational productivity and efficiency *Manage and Review all operational product and process documentation and ERP system information changes (including bills of materials, product routing and design change requests) *Production support element will also include review and update of any production related documentation *Creation or modification of Layouts, Drawings and CAD data *Liaise with NPI during various build stages to report back to engineering any NC such as problems or improvements that can be made *Lead manufacturing system analysis, to ensure systems are lean and delivering the design intent, continually improving the systems to add maximum value to the business *Manage and maintain the actions on the non-conformance database *Support engineering design for manufacture, design for assembly activities to ensure products can be manufactured in the most efficient way possible *Understanding of problem solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s); i.e. thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Gage R & R, Control Charts, Pareto charts etc. *Act as a liaison between Manufacturing, Testing, Design teams plus other areas of the business including Suppliers *Liaising with all relevant departments throughout the design cycle to ensure a smooth and efficient introduction of products to manufacture *Provide support for site and plant maintenance including environmental issues *Responsible for TEACH and COSH activities *Ensure all safety regulations and statuary requirements are met at all times *Working to company wide Processes and Work Instructions, and ensuring AS9100 is understood and being adhered to at all times *Keep the Engineering Manager informed of project status and activity *Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Lead Manufacturing Engineer Skills & Experience: *Ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure in a busy environment with limited information *Knowledge of industry and customer specification quality processes (i.e., ISO9001, AS9100 etc.) *Knowledge of Six Sigma Concepts and tools as they relate to minimising process / product variability; i.e. regression analysis, hypothesis testing etc. *Experience of mechanical and electronics manufacturing principles, technology and processes *Lean Awareness (Business Improvement Techniques, 5S, Kaizen, Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Six Sigma) *Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and interact with staff members at all levels within the business *Excellent understanding of an Engineering / Manufacturing environment *Must be computer literate: Microsoft excel, word, project etc. *Ability to use CAD (SolidWorks or Proge CAD) to design fixtures and analyse product designs *HNC / HND minimum in a related subject *5 years minimum in a previous related role Send your CV to (url removed) or call Hannah today on (phone number removed) for more information on this Manufacturing Engineer opportunities
