Job description & Person Specification A leader in the field of Automotive Aftermarket spares for both the UK and export markets and our customers demand the highest level of service and availability, which we must deliver within a lean supply chain. With a product range of more than 10 categories containing 20,000+ SKU’s it is essential that the successful candidate has experience of managing such a deep portfolio of products. A Logistics Manager's key task is to organise the safe and efficient import and distribution of goods. They will ensure that the right products are delivered to the right location on time and at a good cost. Understanding of the company’s supply chain is important, that person can coordinate shipments effectively and liaise with suppliers and customers. Key Responsibilities: 1. Shipping Management: The logistics manager is responsible for the safe and efficient import and distribution of goods, ensuring timely delivery at a reasonable cost. 2. Logistical Problem Solving: Analysing logistical problems and optimizing transportation routes for the company, with an emphasis on cost savings. 3. Customs Procedures: Managing import and export customs procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and timely clearance of goods. 4. IT System Utilization: Using IT systems to manage shipments, delivery times, and transport costs, as well as leveraging data for performance evaluation and planning improvements. 5. Team Management: Supervising and managing the Logistics Department staff, including coaching, training, and motivation. 6. Stakeholder Relations: Establishing and managing relationships with warehouses, carriers, customs brokers, sales department, and customers. 7. Quality and Efficiency Monitoring: Keeping track of the quality, efficiency, and cost of transport, and resolving any arising problems or complaints. 8. Business Development: Developing the business by securing new contracts, analysing logistical problems, and proposing innovative solutions. 9. Continuous Improvement: Constantly striving to improve and develop business performance within legal constraints, transport costs, and environmental considerations. 10. Risk Management: Identifying and preventing potential transportation issues arising from human, technological, or other errors. 11. Project Management: Planning and managing logistics projects. Qualifications: The role emphasizes that work experience, education, and training should enable the Transportation/Logistics Manager to fulfil all required tasks and responsibilities.
