Position Description: As the Lead/Project Design Engineer you will work to translate the needs of Product Management into robust and easily manufacturable designs that can be procured by the Procurement team. You will work on a wide array of products and manufacturing processes. Your role will involve working with cross-functional teams in Industrial Design, Product Development, Quality, Procurement, Sales & Marketing. Key Responsibilities: Design systems and components for new and updated accessory projects, considering function, cost, manufacture, assembly and quality. Produce good quality 3D Computer-aided design (CAD) models using CREO software. Produce good quality 2D engineering drawings, in compliance to The American Society Of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.5-2009 and Client standards, including the correct application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Follow and help maintain design, operational and quality procedures. Produce supporting documentation for designs, as required, such as Tolerance Stacks, Bolted Joint Calculations, Tooling Access and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) considerations. Liaise with internal departments such as, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality and Assembly, as well as with external departments such as Product Development, Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) and Test Teams. Liaise with outside suppliers. Design components and systems to comply with regulatory requirements where needed. Have a good understanding of the application of regulatory requirements for motorcycles. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree with proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably Pro-engineer / CREO. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering design of components and subassemblies. Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as castings, forgings, sheet metal and injection moldings. Experience of creating and releasing 2D technical drawings to ASME Y14.5-2009. Understanding of geometric tolerances on 2D drawings, to ASME Y14.5-2009. Good understanding of motorcycle chassis layout and construction. Practical experience of vehicle maintenance and preparation is advantageous. Some experience in designing to regulatory requirements as applied to motorcycles. Experience in taking designs from concept to volume production.
