We are looking for a highly skilledHSE Manager to support the development and implementation of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) systems across our business or site(s). You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with SHE regulations and standards, while driving improvements in SHE performance. Hourly Rate: £50/hour PAYE £65/hour Umbrella Working Arrangement: Hybrid (60% onsite) Location: Barrow in Furness The role will support the development and/or deployment of the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) policy, systems and objectives for a business or site(s). The role will be responsible for providing competent SHE advice, systems and assurance for a business or site(s), enabling them to successfully manage SHE and to achieve company strategic goals. Typical duties include (but are not limited to): Support the development, maintenance and/or deployment of a SHE management system (including objectives, processes and assurance) that meet the requirements of Operational Framework and International SHE Standards (such as ISO45001 and ISO14001) and supports the achievement of organisational goals. Provide competent and comprehensive SHE advice and support to Line Leaders, enabling them to effectively manage SHE within their area(s) of responsibility. Supervise a team(s) of SHE professionals. Lead activities associated with improving SHE practice and performance within a business or site(s), including (but not limited to): deployment and implementation of SHE Policy and Management Systems, SHE objectives and targets, provision of competent SHE advice on risk management and control, collation and provision of SHE performance reports (such as incidents, audits, regulatory issues), investigation and reporting of incidents in accordance with regulatory and/or customer requirements, provision of an effective interface with regulators and representatives dealing with liability issues. Support the development and implementation of innovative SHE change programmes, ensuring consistency and effective improvement in SHE risk management and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and the sharing of best practices. Collaborate with key stakeholders, influencing them to appropriately consider SHE factors during decision making. Provide assurance for determining compliance with relevant legal,  Operational Framework and SHE Management System requirements within a business or site(s). Deliver duties to appropriate timescales and to budget. Monitor the effectiveness, and provide regular reports, on all of the above to relevant stakeholders. Knowledge: The job holder is required to hold a comprehensive and contemporary technical understanding of safety, health and environmental management standards and practice, and relevant processes and procedures. The role holder will be an experienced SHE professional with a strong understanding of SHE requirements, internal and external best practice and able to bring their experience to articulate these in order to ensure effective deployment within their work area. The role requires an in depth understanding of how to influence others in order to operationalise, integrate and deliver SHE processes, projects and change in a business, through having an in-depth knowledge of the business or site(s), a contemporary view of their deliverables and aims, the challenges they face, the developments which they are planning and enacting. Skills: The role requires a strong ability to influence and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across all levels of the business or site(s) and externally. Stakeholders include (not limited to) departmental Line Managers, Employee Representatives, Employees, Suppliers and Customers. The job holder should be able to demonstrate integrity, credibility and maturity to gain the confidence and respect of others. Due to the nature of the work environment, the job holder is required to have the ability to solve problems in a dynamic way. The role requires analytical thought to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations, demonstration of sound commercial awareness during decision making and the ability to apply skills and knowledge to a range of problems and issues, drawing upon previous experience. The role also requires effective communication skills able to negotiate internally and externally across a range of levels and with high-level sensitivity Essential Skills and Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in SHE management. Strong understanding of SHE regulations and standards. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 5+ SHE qualification. Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
