Job Title: HGV Fleet Workshop Chargehand Location: Wellingborough Salary: £46,750 + Bonus Shift Pattern: Days Job Type: Permanent  About the Role We are currently seeking an experienced HGV Fleet Workshop Chargehand to join our busy workshop operation in Wellingborough. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for a skilled HGV technician looking to take the next step into supervising day-to-day workshop activities while remaining actively involved in vehicle maintenance and repairs. Key Responsibilities Supervise and support a team of HGV technicians and apprentices Lead daily workshop operations, allocating jobs and managing workflow Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on HGVs and trailers Ensure vehicles are maintained in line with DVSA, MOT, and health & safety standards Oversee MOT preparation, inspections, and defect rectification Maintain high standards of housekeeping and compliance Liaise with transport management to minimise vehicle downtime Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and technical support to the teamRequirements Proven experience as an HGV Technician or Workshop Supervisor/Chargehand Relevant qualifications (Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent) Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills Knowledge of DVSA regulations and MOT standards Leadership experience or the confidence to step into a supervisory role Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities effectively IRTEC qualification (desirable but not essential) Full UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous but not essential)What We Offer Competitive salary of £46,750 per year Stable, permanent position within a well-established fleet operation Modern workshop facilities and well-maintained fleet Opportunities for further training and career progression Supportive management and team-focused working environmentHow to Apply To apply, please submit your CV to (url removed) or feel free to call me on (phone number removed)
