HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician / HGV Fitter / LGV Technician - Thatcham, Berkshire Location: Thatcham, Berkshire Salary: £46,800 base, OTE up to £55,(Apply online only) per annum Hours: Monday-Friday, 07:30-16:30 (40 hours) On-Call: Breakdown rota 1 in 4 weeks (van provided) Job Type: Full-time, Permanent We are recruiting an experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician, HGV Fitter, or LGV Technician to join a newly refurbished workshop in Thatcham. You'll service and maintain a large mixed fleet of HGVs, light vans, and specialist equipment, carrying out diagnostics, servicing, MOT prep and PMIs to DVSA and manufacturer standards. This role suits a hands-on HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician who enjoys varied work, occasional site visits to satellite depots, and taking ownership of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities (HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician) Day-to-day repair, servicing, MOT preparation, PMIs and defect rectification on HGVs and light vans Maintenance and repair of specialist road-marking vehicles/plant (training provided) Attend breakdowns/on-call (1 in 4) with a fully equipped van; complete roadside diagnostics and repairs Visit satellite depots to conduct inspections, servicing and repairs as required Complete accurate job cards, inspection sheets and compliance documentation Maintain high workshop standards, promoting a safe, tidy, and efficient environment Skills & Qualifications (HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter / LGV Technician) Essential: Strong working knowledge of commercial vehicles with 5+ years' relevant experience or NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy/Commercial Vehicle Maintenance Confident diagnostics and fault-finding skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team Safety-focused, punctual, with strong communication and problem-solving skills Desirable: Fabrication and welding experience Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems LGV/HGV driving licence What You'll Receive Overtime paid at x1.5 (Mon-Sat) and x2.0 (Sun) On-call allowance (1 in 4 rota) and company van for callouts 20 days annual leave + all Bank Holidays (additional leave after 2 years' service) Workplace pension scheme Free workwear provided Free parking and modern, newly refurbished workshop & depot Full training and consistent support, with opportunities for internal promotion/progression Sick pay If you're an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician, HGV Fitter, or LGV Technician looking for a permanent role with excellent earning potential, on-call enhancements, and strong career prospects in Thatcham, we want to hear from you.
