The Opportunity Our Client, a World recognised and respected Automotive OEM Manufacturer based in rural Warwickshire is actively seeking an experienced Group Leader with a focus on SVO Paint on a permanent basis. On offer to the successful applicant is a negotiable, albeit based on relevant experience, basic salary, plus shift allowance, together with a full comprehensive benefits package to include discount car scheme. This is a position that will see you responsible for the coaching and mentoring of all direct reports, creating an environment of genuine employee empowerment to achieve ‘World Class’ standards in Paint application. The incumbent will be responsible for achieving volume, quality and cost targets through the combined team effort of direct and indirect departments.  Your duties and responsibilities will be: Continuously improve all areas of operations including quality, schedule achievement, cost and people development. Plan and co-ordinate manufacturing operations within areas of responsibility. Monitor, control and maintain the quality level within the areas of responsibility to the company quality standards ensuring that the customer (internal and external) is protected. Ensure that the departmental area of responsibility can function at all times in terms of labour, consumable materials and maintained equipment in order to achieve the required volume and quality levels. Motivate, support and lead the team through coaching and mentoring. Achieve required performance in areas of housekeeping, waste management, and compliance to safety and environmental legislation. Control all waste to meet departmental budgets ensuring cost effective use of both company and natural resources. Enable the team to set work standards / processes, implement assignments / labour loading and achieve production targets. Facilitate the removal of non-value-added work within the manufacturing team in line with company improvement processes (including Six Sigma, Kaizen, AMPS). Facilitate team measurement of performance in line with departmental measurables, enabling the team to work on problem resolution and customer protection. Plan labour requirements and ensure procedures are followed to recruit labour. Manage level one / 8D problem resolution and facilitate team efforts in level zero / 8D investigation. Assist and facilitate training to develop team members and minimise impact of labour shortages. Audit all visual management in area of responsibility ensuring any corrective action plans are put in place. Develop and implement robust problem containment and resolution to protect the customer (internal and external).You will have the following qualifications & experience: Should ideally have an ONC minimum qualification, better still be HNC / Degree qualified in Engineering, Manufacturing or similar, although plenty of equivalent and relevant experience will also be considered.  You should be an experienced Group Leader / Team Leader with team development experience in the understanding of technician range of skills that are required within the application of Paint area. Should be skilled in identifying team strengths and weaknesses and facilitating training needs. You will need to have the ability to use diagnostic skills to determine faults and lead a team in the rectification of such faults. You are required to have or be willing to undertake in Kaizen, Industrial Engineering, Quality and Process Management, Disciplinary procedure understanding as well as having an ISO 14001 appreciation. You should be Computer Literate. You will need excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence others, be enthusiastic and determined and highly self-motivated. You will offer the flexibility to work shift patterns, overtime, weekends to achieve production targets.It’s great if you also have the following: You will ideally have experience of ‘lean Manufacturing’ tools and techniques.This position is available with immediate effect.
