The Role As Engineering Manager, you will provide engineering and technical leadership for all three UK plants and: To actively deliver engineering services to sustain and improve operational performance and customer satisfaction. To keep plant (all UK sites) operating at maximum efficiency. Effectively manage CAPEX budget and expenditure Monitor and report to Group on Engineering processes. To support the UK Plant Manager in leading and developing the plant engineering teams based at all UK sites. To oversee plant equipment is running to desired standard working along with the maintenance supervisory team for planned and unplanned maintenance activities. To carry out routine monitoring of all critical systems and identify weaknesses in the production system. To assist in training operators / staff in mechanical tasks. To initiate and develop improvement projects in order to improve and optimise line efficiency to World Class Manufacturing standards. Manage the day-to-day activities and the smooth running of the engineering function to standard ensuring the plant/s (all UK sites) operate at maximum efficiency Ensure robust and planned delivery of engineering services, planned maintenance and routine monitoring activities across the plant/s (all UK sites) To initiate and develop improvement projects in order to improve and optimise line efficiency to World Class Manufacturing standards. To support and direct contractors where and when applicable Support the management of and adherence to the requirements of IATF16949, ISO 45001 & ISO14001 and any other related standards Promote the 15 Principles for Good Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Behaviour To maintain a safe working environment and actively support the continuing development of a safety culture across the site. About You: Minimum 5 years' experience within an engineering function in a similar role and within a high volume manufacturing environment. Degree in Engineering (BSc or higher) or equivalent highly desirable Experience within an automotive Tier 1 interior trim manufacturer is highly desirable Knowledge of electrical systems / robotics. Understanding and ability to instruct and implement Kaizen, TPM and Lean Manufacturing Extremely familiar with the automotive manufacturing environment, preferably at Tier 1 level. Experience of leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams. Able to fault find down to a competent level Management of systems ensuring Contractors are issued with permits to work (legal and safety requirements) Highly developed communicator, gaining support by good problem-solving ability, logical decision-making and influencing skills. Works well under pressure and without supervision. Effective strategist as well as an operational tactician. A pragmatic team player able to contribute to the business beyond the engineering function Efficient project manager and able to manage others through change; delivers results. Financially literate, analytical and agile mind-set and thought pattern. Manages self and others in ways which optimise their contribution to business performance.
