At Excel Industrial, we are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Manager to oversee operations at one of the UK’s most advanced vehicles charging depots. This is a unique opportunity to manage a dynamic fleet of over 300 vehicles, including 150 electric vehicles (EVs), with plans for future expansion. The Role As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and compliant running of workshop operations. You’ll take ownership of fleet availability, staff leadership, and vehicle reliability to ensure high service standards are consistently met. Your role will also include: * Overseeing and supporting day-to-day depot operations. * Providing cover and strategic support to engineering teams across multiple depots when required. * Leading and motivating engineering staff, fostering ongoing development. * Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and vehicle maintenance legislation. * Utilizing data and analytics to identify cost-saving opportunities and service improvements during non-depot-based periods. Working hours: Monday to Friday Reporting to: Head of Engineering About You We're looking for a driven leader with a background in mechanical or electrical engineering. Key requirements include: * Essential: Level 3 NVQ or equivalent, City & Guilds in mechanical or electrical engineering. * Ideally hold a TMCPC (Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence) – training provided if not already held. * Strong understanding of workshop safety and equipment usage. * Solid working knowledge of DVSA legislation and defect categorisation. * Proven leadership experience, with the ability to direct and develop teams. * Familiarity with IT systems including SAP and Microsoft Office. * Financial and budget management experience. * Ability to travel between multiple sites as required.
