Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Job type: Permanent

Category:

Electronics Systems Engineer Staffordshire, UK £35-45k + benefits This role would probably suit a junior engineer with 1-4 years of industry experience. A background in design / development or systems engineering would be preferred (e.g. electronics, software, mechatronics etc) ideally gained within the automotive, avionics, aerospace or similar industry. Location: Office based, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire The position involves a multitude of responsibilities and would suit an all-rounder or junior engineer that has the aptitude to apply their knowledge to a variety of tasks. Typical involvements: Electronics Systems Engineer * Systems Engineering - Development of requirements / project documentation, CAN files * Systems Design – Development of software requirements, software modelling (Matlab / Simulink) * Software / systems integration – integration, test and validation activities relating to new features and improvements for off-highway vehicles and machines (involves electronic systems, ECUs, etc) Candidates that would suit this role would typically have a background in either software, electronics or mechatronics and have experience of the ability and desire to get involved with software, integration, test and validation activities, etc. NOTE: this role will not involve hands on circuit design or software programming as it is a “systems design and integration” role. Required: Electronics Systems Engineer * 1-4 years of post-academic experience gained within the automotive, aerospace, electronics, mechatronics, or other similar product development environment. * A degree in a relevant field (e.g. electronics, computer science, mechatronics, automotive engineering) * Product engineering experience and ability having spent time on the design, development or test of complex electromechanical systems (e.g. robotics, autonomous vehicles, ECUs for automotive features, etc) * An appreciation of systems design, the systems engineering cycle (V model) and capturing requirements from customers. * Good practical engineering skills (e.g. software or hardware integration or test, hands-on problem solving, development of systems in a lab / workshop, use of benchtop test equipment, etc) – This MUST be evident on your CV. The electronics systems engineer role will involve full lifecycle (V model) systems engineering activities including the capture and development of customer requirements into functional requirements and specifications. Once the features / functions have been designed and developed you will be involved with integrating the hardware / software to the machine and getting it working. This will involve physical hands-on electronics or software integration activities (lab or field) to ensure product features and systems meet product requirements. This will require engineering design / development knowledge but an appreciation for the greater system. The ideal candidate would be an engineering graduate / junior engineer that has spent 1-4 years within industry either within a systems engineering or design / development engineering role. This experience would have been gained within systems design or product development of complex electromechanical systems used within the automotive, off-highway, aerospace or other similar fast paced environment. The systems engineer will need strong communication, organisation and practical skills and be proactive, adaptable and keen to learn. You may get exposure to electric vehicle technologies, hybrid powertrain systems, autonomous systems, collision avoidance / ADAS systems, hydraulic controls, etc. In short you can be exposed to a variety of technologies. This electronics systems engineer role is based onsite and is commutable from Rocester, Stoke on Trent, Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham, Uttoxeter, Stafford, and Burton
