Electrical Category Buyer Salary: Up to £45,000 Location: Solihull, West Midlands Sector: Automotive Contract: Full Time, Permanent The Role Our client is an iconic British Motorcycle manufacturer with over 120 years of heritage, who are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Category Buyer to join a fast-paced and forward-thinking manufacturing and engineering environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the electrical procurement category, including supplier relationship management, cost negotiations, and supporting new product introductions. Key Responsibilities * Act as the category expert for electrical components – owning supplier relationships, cost control, and supplier sourcing. * Drive early supplier engagement for new projects, including validation and tracking. * Lead pricing negotiations, feasibility reviews, development plan sign-offs, and capacity planning with suppliers. * Ensure professional and consistent communication with the supply base. * Identify and mitigate any supply risks that could impact project timelines or delivery. * Manage purchase orders and schedules. * Continuously improve procurement processes and support cross-functional collaboration. * Contribute to supplier performance evaluations (quality, cost, delivery). Requirements * Proven experience in electrical category procurement within engineering and automotive sectors. * Strong negotiation and communication skills. * Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. * Detail-oriented, organised, and able to prioritise effectively. * Flexible and adaptable with a proactive, solution-focused approach.
