Key Responsibilities: Trimming & Fitting: Accurately trim and fit pre-formed composite components using hand tools, jigs, and power tools, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings and tolerances. Surface Finishing: Carry out surface preparation such as sanding, cutting, polishing, and finishing of composite materials to achieve the desired surface quality. Assembly: Assemble composite parts into sub-assemblies or full vehicle builds, ensuring correct fit, alignment, and functionality of components. Bonding & Sealing: Apply adhesives and bonding agents for the secure joining of composite materials. Ensure proper sealing of components where required. Quality Inspection: Inspect finished parts for defects, including surface finish, fit, and structural integrity. Correct any minor imperfections and report major issues to the supervisor. Tool Maintenance: Maintain all tools and equipment used in the trimming and fitting process, ensuring they are in proper working condition. Health & Safety: Follow all health and safety guidelines, particularly those relevant to working with composite materials such as carbon fibre or fibreglass, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Collaboration: Work closely with production engineers, quality control teams, and other departments to ensure parts meet quality standards and deadlines. Job Requirements: Skills & Experience: Experience in trimming and fitting automotive composite materials, preferably in a high-performance or motorsport environment. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments (e.g., verniers, micrometers). Ability to interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications. Experience with bonding techniques, sealing methods, and surface finishing processes. High attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred). Relevant certifications or technical qualifications in composite materials or automotive manufacturing are advantageous. Desirable Qualities: Excellent hand-eye coordination and dexterity. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Commitment to safety and quality standards. Working Conditions: Ability to work in a production environment with exposure to materials such as carbon fibre, resins, and bonding agents. May require lifting and handling of lightweight composite components. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required to meet production deadlines.
