Title: CAM Engineer / CNC Programmer Location: Hamburg Type: Permanent Own CAM programming and machining standards within a new advanced manufacturing facility, covering everything from toolpath creation and first article prove-out through to cycle time optimisation and production handover. You will play a key role in establishing scalable programming practices across multiple sites. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role within a small, early-stage team where individuals are responsible for the full process from programming through to machining and validation. The CAM Engineer will be responsible for * Program, simulate and optimise CNC toolpaths across multi-axis platforms (3-axis and 5-axis milling) * Set, prove-out and run components to stringent engineering and quality standards * Reduce cycle times and improve machine utilisation from the outset * Select tooling, cutting parameters and workholding strategies for advanced materials * Design and refine fixturing solutions * Interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T * Develop toolpath libraries, programming templates and associated documentation * Support new product introduction from drawing through to stable production * Provide design for manufacture feedback to stakeholders * Collaborate with software and engineering teams to improve data capture, scheduling and automation * Support training and development of machinists in programming standards * Contribute to factory setup, equipment commissioning and workflow definition The CAM Engineer will require * Strong CAM programming experience (e.g. Hypermill, Mastercam, Siemens NX or similar) * Proven ability to achieve tight tolerances in precision manufacturing environments * Experience setting and operating advanced CNC machinery * Deep understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling strategies and workholding principles * Hands-on capability across both programming and machining * Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T * Strong documentation and revision control discipline * Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment with minimal structure It is desirable for the CAM Engineer to have * Experience within aerospace, defence or other high-spec industries * Simultaneous 5-axis machining experience * Experience machining advanced alloys * Familiarity with NC simulation tools (e.g. Vericut) * Experience with probing, automation or pallet systems * Understanding of recognised quality standards (e.g. EN 9100 / AS9100) Benefits for the CAM Engineer * Opportunity to define and influence programming standards across multiple sites * Exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies and automation * Work on complex, high-value engineering components * Equity or long-term incentive opportunities (where applicable)
