A leading Bus company based in Catford, SE London have a vacancy for an experienced Bodyshop Technician. Working Mon-Fri 6-2 £22.37 per hour - 45K + OT + Benefits 1. To repair damage to company buses including vehicle bodywork, framework, ramps, windows, chassis, seating, doors and flooring etc. 2. To assess damage including replacement parts required and to calculate the cost of repair and likely time for repair. 3. To be responsible for stripping vehicles of damaged parts; manufacturing new panels as necessary and straightening of body and chassis. To be responsible for the cutting, fabricating, riveting and welding of new panels. 4. To prepare vehicles bodywork for re-spraying and to prime and paint new body panels. 5. To replace broken windows, indirect and directly glazed glass. 6. To replace damaged flooring, cutting and laying new floor covering. 7. To repair and recover damaged seats, seat backs and seat frames. 8. To fit vinyl transfers to company vehicles. 9. To manufacture and fit new assault screens. 10. Any other reasonable duties as directed by management that lies within the scope of the jobholder’s responsibilities The post holder should have knowledge of • Bus construction and repair techniques • Bonding, adhesives and sealants used in bus repair, their usage and their safe storage and disposal • Primers, solvents and paints, their usage and their staff storage and disposal • All types of welding • Pulling equipment, jigs, bending and folding machines, guillotines, grinding and sanding machines etc • Glazing techniques as used in the automotive industry • Basic knowledge of Bus electrics and mechanics • An understanding of relevant safe working practices • An understanding of the standards required by the Company, VOSA, TfL, Department of Transport etc. The post holder should have served a recognised apprenticeship and possess a suitable qualification (e.g. C&G, NVQ3)
