Overview: First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic business who are looking to recruit an Avionics Design Engineer with a strong aviation background on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Staverton (Gloucestershire) depot. As an Avionics Design Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. As an Avionics Design Engineer, you’ll have a significant impact on the designs created by the approved Aerospace Design Organisation which supports multiples customers across the industry (Air Ambulance, Police, Utilities, Training among others across the UK and Europe). You will be involved throughout the entire project lifecycle: from initial proposal and costing, through concept, design and delivery design solutions for a wide variety of aircraft modification projects. Some Flexibility of working hours is available on agreement with the Hiring Manager, however the role is predominantly based on site, due to the nature of work carried out. Duties and Responsibilities: Design aircraft electrical and avionics systems and concepts. Production of manufacturing and installation drawings using AutoCAD in compliance with the internal procedures to meet customer and aerospace regulatory requirements, the Design Office Handbook and relevant Certification Basis e.g., CS-27, CS-29 etc. Completion of electrical load analyses. The analysis of existing systems and designs embodied on aircraft. Support production and installation engineers in matters relating to electrical and avionic design. Carry out aircraft surveys to define design solutions as required. Support aircraft ground testing. Skills and Qualifications: HNC / HND / Degree in a relevant engineering subject Experience working within an Aerospace Design Office. Previous experience as a drawing checker is beneficial. Experience of the full design life cycle from conception to delivery of the design package. Proficient experience of AutoCAD is beneficial Knowledge of CAA / EASA Part 21 Subpart J (DOA) & G (POA) requirements. Knowledge of, and the ability to select appropriate avionic / systems and solutions. Strong knowledge of electrical engineering and first principles. Ability to work to a high and consistent level of accuracy. Strong attention to detail. Ability to imagine conceptual system design.
