Role Overview: As the AIT Mechanical Team Lead, you will promote and enforce AIT standards, ensuring that engineering concepts are seamlessly delivered to the shop floor. You will lead a team of AIT engineers, fostering quality and process robustness through best practices across disciplines. Your leadership will be pivotal to the success of our missions. Key Responsibilities: Mechanical Satellite Element: Lead the mechanical team on an ENS project through Phases 'A', 'B', 'C/D', and 'E'. Team Leadership: Guide a team of AIT engineers, planning and executing weekly activities for the mechanical and operations teams. 3Dx Delmia Support: Utilize 3Dx Delmia for project-specific tasks. Documentation: Produce specifications, test plans, DDV plans, AIT plans, test procedures, and test reports. Equipment Management: Control all project MGSE, flight, and support equipment; produce and operate MGSE requirement specs. Alignment and Testing: Develop and maintain optical alignment equipment and test procedures; oversee the design, manufacture, and commissioning of test equipment. Mechanical Handling: Manage the handling of spacecraft components including instruments, payloads, solar arrays, and antennas. Environmental Testing: Prepare and conduct vibration, acoustic, mass properties, and thermal tests at various levels. Instrumentation and Propulsion: Install and validate test instrumentation; support propulsion testing. Thermal Hardware: Handle and install thermal hardware. Integration and Documentation: Oversee the mechanical integration and testing of various spacecraft components and maintain associated documentation. Pyrotechnics: Handle, install, and ensure safety for pyrotechnic components. Workload Planning: Plan and control the workload of the AIT team, consisting of engineers and technicians. Travel: Be prepared to travel overseas for short periods (typically 2-3 months, occasionally 6-7 months).Essential Skills and Experience: Engineering Experience: Relevant background in engineering, specifically in satellite integration processes and project phases. ERP Systems: Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems. Documentation: Strong understanding of build documentation and its importance. Quality and Process Improvement: Drive build quality through process reviews and improvements. Team Management: Effective management of a team to ensure timely and high-standard work completion. Project Control: Experience in delivering projects on budget and schedule. Customer and Supplier Interaction: Proven ability to handle face-to-face dealings with customers and suppliers. High-Pressure Environment: Experience working in volatile, high-pressure environments to resolve technical and personnel conflicts. Spacecraft Mechanical Testing: Essential experience in mechanical testing on prime projects. Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead a team. MGSE Operations: Experience in producing MGSE specs and operating MGSE and flight hardware. Documentation Quality: High-quality documentation skills, including test specs, plans, procedures, and AIT plans.Desirable Skills and Experience: Optical Alignment Equipment: Experience in producing test procedures and operating optical alignment equipment.
