Job Title: Weight Management Engineer Duration: 11 months, extensions likely Location: WFH/Crewe (three times per week in the office) Salary: £35.00 per hour Limited Our client, a leading player in the automotive industry, is seeking an experienced and innovative Weight Management Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Weight Management Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of vehicles, focusing on reducing weight while maintaining safety and performance standards. The Department: The Weight Management Function is part of the Whole Vehicle Physics Department and is at the forefront of delivering vehicle performance, efficiency and sustainability. The Weight Management Function works cross functionally from concept, through design and development, to certification in order to manage the weight of all cars and deliver product targets. The role of the Weight Management department is highly varied and interfaces with a wide range of stakeholders across the business; all aspects and stages of weight management will be undertaken. Key Accountabilities: Setting and delivering whole vehicle weight targets utilising sound engineering knowledge, lightweight technology trends, BoM weight roll ups and vehicle/part measurement. Managing own project related activities including creating and presenting reports to Senior Management. Planning and managing programmes, leading weight reduction work-streams, working in close cooperation with other functions to ensure achievement of weight targets. Constructively challenging & influencing engineering departments to deliver targets. Calculating Vehicle weight and mass properties (Centre of Gravity and Moment of Inertias) using a variety of methods and data sources. Contributing to the calculation of certification weights for cross functional agreement, based on multiple data sources and relevant legislation Competitor benchmarking (including technologies used) and attribute target setting Required skills: Experience of building strong collaborative and influential relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. Good knowledge of CAD and Bill of Materials / spec configuration systems. Strong understanding of lightweight technologies and technology trends. Strong MS Office skills, including Macro writing.
