Position: Vehicle Engineering IGroup Manager Location: West Sussex Term: Permanent Our Client; a truly global leader in the manufacture of Specialist Vehicles and Survivability systems are experiencing enormous growth with some new fantastic projects on the go in the Defence and Military sectors. It is for this reason that we have been tasked with finding an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Vehicle Engineering Group Manager to join the team as soon as possible on a permanent basis. The remuneration is, to an extent, negotiable and will be based upon relevant experience, plus a full and comprehensive benefits package, together with bonus. In light of significant new projects, the business is growing its engineering and project capability moving towards a combined ‘Product Development’ business unit. Change is in the air for our Client; as a result, this opportunity will play a significant part in the introduction of a new structure. The restructure has created an opportunity for a new Manager to join the team, someone who is hands-on that can make sure Engineering (FEA, Project, Design etc) are doing what they should be doing to deliver a “quality product.” The Engineering Integration team is responsible for all cross-functional integration disciplines. Working in a matrix structure the team will ensure robust engineering integration principles are followed to ensure ‘Engineering Excellence’ is embedded into company Products. Working alongside Engineering design & project office management the whole team collectively will be responsible for delivery all future products. The Engineering Group Manager will be responsible for the growth and development of the capability and capacity of the team to ensure we are fit to deliver our products. The scope of the role is broad and as such, the first line of the team is expected to be the SME’s to provide the depth of capability in our core engineering integration competencies. The Vehicle Engineering Group Manager will be required to develop a scalable team with robust outsourcing capability to enable business and project flexibility. The individual A self-motivated, flexible and highly competent Vehicle Engineering Manager or highly capable multi-disciplined Principal Engineer will thrive in this role. Someone who is capable of putting their stamp on a business that is growing; be an ambassador and implementer of change. You will be accountable for growing and developing your team. Preferred Qualifications * -Ideally educated to Degree / Masters level (or equivalent) in a Vehicle engineering / Automotive discipline or similar. Experience/Knowledge * -Should be an experienced Vehicle Engineering Manager or Principal Engineer or similar who has experience working within an Automotive, Defence Vehicle and/or Military Manufacturing sector. * -You will be a hands-on Vehicle Engineer, someone who can see the “bigger picture,” capable of questioning engineering principles across varying departments, ensuring products are being developed correctly and to the right “quality standard,” taking my Client to the next level in engineering excellence. * -You will need strong experience in all or some of; Development, Analysis, Compliance & Process Engineering. * -You will have strong new product development experience from Pre-Bid, Concept through to test & series Manufacture. * -Low & Medium Volume vehicle background would be a real advantage. * -Conversant with ‘Engineering integration tools’ such DVP, DFMEA, FEA, IVA, Small Series Type Approval. * -Displays good people management capabilities, can lead a team. * -Experience dealing with Senior and sometimes challenging individuals. * -Can demonstrate effective management and process creation / Implementation. * -Experience in engagement & management of engineering outsourcing deliverables-based contracts. * -Should be flexible and prepared to travel within the UK and internationally as required.
