Vehicle Engineer Location: North West of England region (Field based) + Chorley depot Job type: Full time, permanent Ref: (00)178 Telent are now looking for a Vehicle Engineer who has experience of and passion for in-vehicle auto-electrical installations and maintenance experience. This is a field-based role that will see you travel across the North West region of England, with the odd occasional visit to the Chorley depot. As a Vehicle Engineer for Telent, you will have an opportunity to work on one of the most mission-critical Emergency Services disciplined projects - it will be challenging AND rewarding at the same time! This role includes a 1-in-3 week on-call expectation, which you will need to be able to commit to. Our Field teams are critical in the delivery of our contracts, whether that is delivering, or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works. Help build and keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7. Vehicle Engineer - What you'll do: Maintenance, installation, and commissioning of Communications and Auto-electrical equipment for new "Emergency Services" vehicles as well as existing fleet. You will maintain your tooling, spares, and consumables efficiently. Manage the movement of assets between maintenance stock and the designated vehicle. Spares returns management. Support the business and Field Engineering team in achieving tight SLA's set by the customer. Strive to achieve a first-time fix on all cases. Be Health & Safety aware always. Adopt safe working practices. Undertake training as required (FITAS training and initial auto-electrical installations training). Work closely and collaborate with your peers via knowledge sharing and shadowing. Ensure that you are well-organised with set schedules and rota's.Vehicle Engineer - Who you are: The successful Vehicle Engineer will already possess electrical / auto-electrical installations experience. This can be anything from installing GPS units, Mobile Data Terminals (MDT's) in Emergency Response (or other types) Vehicles, Reversing Cameras, Blue Lights, 2-way Radio Communications equipment, Wireless Telecommunications equipment found in Vehicles, Telematics / Black box equipment and so on. You will naturally have a technical and methodical way of thinking, ensuring that you follow protocol and the correct processes when installing and maintaining electrical equipment. As this Vehicle Engineer role services our Emergency Services customers, you will need to ensure that Safety, excellent customer service and good time-keeping standards are held high. Vehicle Engineer - Key requirements: Previous experience in installing communications equipment / auto-electrical equipment into vehicles (Essential) FITAS FCS1362 Accredited (Desirable) Full UK Driving Licence Ability to achieve SC Security Clearance Good IT skills and able to use a Laptop, Mobile and a Tablet City & Guilds/NVQ in Electronics or similar Familiar with multiple vehicle types, particularly Emergency Services, buses / coaches, HGV's, Taxi vehicles, military vehicles etc. Able to install in a timely manner to meet the customer expectations Able to follow and install auto-electrical to provided designs and specificationsTelent - What we offer: A career at Telent can span sectors, roles, technologies, and customers giving you the opportunity to develop, learn new skills and make an impact.
