Technical Lead Manufacturing Engineer - Special Projects (High Performance EV) - Fixed term contract up to 18 months  Support the cars side of the business in the technical management and associated deliverables for Special / Limited Edition variants of sports cars manufactured within our modern Hethel manufacturing facilities (High Performance EV product). This will encompass all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering activities, to include defining/installing commissioning of key Facility / Equipment / Tooling / Process documentation for EP / VP / PP build events through to Production. As part of the role, this will include leading a small team of Manufacturing Engineers, creation / monitoring of day to day task management (including support of physical build events),create departmental project plans for delivery of activities aligned to overall project timing and management of associated budget. The role provides the opportunity to undertake a wide range of tasks and enables the successful candidate to work with many different areas of the business. Role responsibilities Key responsibilities could include any, or a combination of, the following: * Promote and maintain a healthy, safe and clean working environment at all times. * Production & Project support as requested * Support investigation of Concern / Problem resolution * Responsible for agreement of critical significant characteristics and the creation of PFMEA and control plans * Identify build issues/concerns and make relevant parties aware. Assist in finding solutions and follow all actions for resolution on Continuous Improvement tracking system * Responsible for creation of production man-assignments aligned to manufacturing build requirements (Visual Factory based system) * Study operations sequence, material flow, fixturing / tooling, process documents / statements with the aim of improving line balancing, throughput, and efficient working procedures * Responsible for draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency. * Publish clear and concise information including all aspect of Man / Method / Machine (tooling) / Material to manufacturing * Responsible for co-ordinating "On the Job" training for new processes with manufacturing staff * Responsible for implementation, control, and closure of Deviations from standard production processes. * Responsible for new tooling / fixtures design and development / specification for introduction into manufacturing environment * Responsible for tooling, equipment & facilities specification, procurement, installation, commissioning * Responsible for proving out new tooling and fixtures and provide constructive feedback. * Responsible for maintenance of tooling & jig registers * Support the build of cars during EP, VP, PP phases through to Production * Responsible for Plan / Do / Check / Action all initiatives, tasks and agreed actions to ensure their full achievement to Launch Plan * Adopt a positive approach to coaching and facilitation and supporting manufacturing supervision to help them successfully achieve the Launch Plan and its objectives. * Responsible for estimation of production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control * Responsible for production / engineering / projects with technical input / information pertinent to – Special Projects” (High Performance EV) * Generate presentations material to include status metrics / key technical information for weekly project meetings / Gateway / Milestone events and present on behalf of Man. Eng. * Become Manufacturing Engineering central point of contact with regards to technical knowledge and information for “Special Projects” * Responsible for day to day leadership of small team of Manufacturing Engineers * Lead Special Projects activities assigned to the Manufacturing Engineering department in order to deliver Facilities / Equipment / Tooling and Process documentation for all EP / VP / PP build phases through to Production * Investigate and develop opportunities to embrace new technologies and innovations into the Lotus manufacturing environment to improve both efficiencies / cost and overall product quality Essential Criteria * BTEC/ NVQ in Engineering * Previous manufacturing, production engineering knowledge (preferably EV product based) * MS Office programmes (Word / Excel / PPT). Able to create and management via MS Project. Fully proficient in Teamcenter, use of process systems. * Logical thinker, organiser, proven problem solver. * High level of Technical knowledge gained through time served within automotive manufacturer environment Desirable Criteria * HNC/ HND/ Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering * MS Access / Visual Factory / Lotus AutoCAD / Catia or another cad package. * Very good working knowledge of niche vehicle & OEM automotive industries. * Comprehensive knowledge of multiples areas of manufacturing – Body / Interior / EEI / Chassis / EV * Positive” can do attitude”, eye for detail, methodical and measured approach.
