Job Description Job Title: Strategic Procurement Manager Reporting to: Director of Procurement Site: UK Based Date of issue: May 2021 The Strategic Procurement Manager will be responsible for the contract management, performance management and development of Gardner’s key supplier relationships. Supported by operational procurement teams in each of our manufacturing sites, this is a great opportunity to help further develop the Procurement function on it’s aim to be best in class. Purpose of role and accountabilities: * Coordinates volume purchase agreement negotiations for the Gardner group * Contract Management of existing key supplier relationships * Help refine and deliver commodity strategies across a wide range of materials * Maintain current knowledge of market trends, market conditions & recommends changes in supply chain strategies based on such knowledge * Manages the Supply Chain through any NPI / Transfer of Work process in conjunction with local Gardner site teams * Acts as a point of escalation to assist manufacturing sites with performance concerns from Suppliers Core skills/attributes needed: * This position requires someone who is a strategic thinker that can influence and implement change in a dynamic environment * Experience/knowledge within the Aerospace industry preferred but not essential * Requires thoroughness, resourcefulness, adaptability to shifting priorities/deadlines and multi-tasking * Self-starter who can influence and be comfortable representing the company in front of a variety of audiences * Must be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, planning and organisation skills * Requires excellent analytical skills and the ability to analyse and resolve problems at all levels. * Proven effective negotiator and confident communicator * Comfortable challenging and dealing with conflict with strong decision making skills The employee must also strive to support the elements of the SQCDP framework of the wider Gardner business; * Safety: work in line with all accredited company safety standards in order to provide a safe working environment for all * Quality: support the quality accreditations across the business to ensure the delivery of a ‘right first time’ performance * Cost: support the continuous improvements in cost reduction activities across the company in order to deliver increased profitability and value for money to our customers and stakeholders * Delivery: drive improvement in delivery performance to continually exceed customer expectations and targets * People: support organisational capability and influence cultural change by embracing diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and community An annual appraisal will be held to ensure the employee and their Line Manager is happy with their performance, progress and development. Further reviews may also be held to discuss any ongoing training needs of the employee.
