We are looking for a Senior Engineer with a strong background in electrical installation to help shape the future of flight. You will be responsible to define and derive requirements for the EWIS (including cryogenic electrical network) as well as develop the corresponding functional and physical architecture for the project through to validation testing. You will concurrently perform risk, safety assessments and also be responsible to work with the system safety and certification engineers to ensure compliance to system related regulations as well as be responsible to ensure compliance to system related requirements. The Senior Research Engineer shall draw on their diverse engineering background and product lifecycle awareness to progress a variety of research activity in the TRL1-6 range. They must have sound experience in leading technical work, including budgeting, schedule and risk management. They shall be capable of achieving through others internally and externally, and will be committed to development of their own skills and professional network. Their good communication skills shall enable them to confidently engage with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Job Responsibilities Shall define and develop requirements, and turn them into a feasible solution by proposing an architecture, system and component definition according to ARP4754. Shall develop component and system specifications/descriptions as well as compliance criteria for EWIS and cryogenic electrical network components. Shall develop installation design requirements for the EWIS (including cryogenic electrical network). Shall ensure system consistency: linking the correct lifecycle stages, control sub-systems compliance, operate trade-offs over discipline-based constraints. Shall perform EMC and thermal simulations for the EWIS, in particular for the cryogenic electrical network. Shall define validation plans and ensure compliance through analysis, simulation and/or test (e.g. DO-160) as appropriate. Shall ensure development and evolution of system requirements through the design into a validated physical product ensuring maximum reuse of existing high performance technologies as well as engagement of the Electrical Systems R&T Team in Civil Aerospace. Shall work as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop a system/ product/ service, through the early phases of the project lifecycle. Shall ensure configuration management is in place for the systems and all of its components from requirement through to operation. Shall ensure EHS policy and process adherence for their activities, and will contribute to a proactive EHS culture in the wider team. Shall contribute to the development of GKN as a 'Great Place to Work', aligned with the core principles - safe, innovative, open & honest, care & respect, and ownership. May support project stakeholder management with internal/external customers, and may lead management of supply chain partners in some cases.
