Job Reference: J(phone number removed) Job Title: Senior Flight Sciences Engineer Location: Bedford Salary: Negotiable dependent upon experience Company: Aeropeople have partnered with a privately-held Aerospace OEM company who are now looking to hire a Senior Flight Sciences Engineer to be based at their site in Bedford. The company has a range of proprietary designs (patents & IP) which provide Lighter-Than-Air (LTA) solutions for both the commercial and defence markets, with its current major focus on a long endurance surveillance aircraft (optionally manned) and a heavy lift logistics aircraft capable of lifting 50-tonnes. The successful candidate will be embedded within the Flight Sciences and Simulations (FS&S) team and will play a pivotal role in the design and testing of a new class of aircraft. In particular you will support aerodynamic and aircraft performance activities in aid of the aircraft design. Job Description: * Developing test plans, supporting tests, conducting post test data analysis and test reporting (wind tunnel, ground, flight tests). * Supporting aircraft design work including wind tunnel testing and simulation activities. * Supporting aircraft flight performance and handling quality assessment studies using the company’s Flight Training Device. * Supporting the derivation of aerodynamic loads for the aircraft and its main components. * Working closely with Engineering, and other departments within the company, on all aspects of aircraft development, providing analysis results and supporting decision-making to inform future test planning and aircraft development work. * Using theory and engineering tools to analyse aerodynamic performance due to design changes. * Development of the flight trainer facility to reflect aircraft performance characteristics. Benefits: * Negotiable salary * Company pension scheme * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing to 30 with length of service) * Life Assurance (4 x salary) * Onsite, free parking Skills and Qualifications: * Graduate in Aeronautical Engineering or other Engineering/ Physical Sciences discipline with an emphasis on mathematical/ analytical-based subjects. * Demonstrable and relevant experience in a test environment or in the analysis of aerodynamic data to aid air vehicle design and/ or aerodynamic loads analysis work. * An excellent knowledge of the fundamentals of aeronautical aerodynamics, aero-loads and data analysis techniques. * High standard of written and spoken English. * Strong mathematical and analytical skills. * Ability to prepare technical documentation, including test plans, reports. * Ability to liaise with other technical systems design groups with the Company. * Familiarity with using Matlab and Simulink. * Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). * Experience in the use of CFD or CAD tools, in flight testing techniques, or in programming using C/C++, Python would be beneficial but not essential. * You will be a self-disciplined team player with proactive work ethic and flexible approach. * You will be keen to contribute to the quality, safety and integrity of the aircraft and enjoy working as part of a highly-dedicated and motivated team.
