Cobham Mission Systems have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Test Development Engineer. The purpose of this role is: To demonstrate and deploy an advanced level of technical knowledge and subject matter expertise within the field of automated electrical test design and development for the aerospace industry. To provide advanced technical expertise to aerospace projects and product developments, primarily for military applications. Aligning technical solutions to organisational objectives to ensure the optimum business benefit. To support to the Electrical Test engineering management team in performing the activities associated with electrical tests for avionic equipment and systems. To support other team members in performing their allocated tasks. To support all stages of lifecycle management relating to development and validation of electrical test products. This role is based from Wimborne, Dorset and reports to the Electrical Test Supervisor. We are able to offer flexible working arrangements, such as working remotely with attendance on site on an agreed basis as required. As a Senior Electrical Test Development Engineer, your skills and qualifications should be: Essential: Significant experience within aerospace or a similar industry Demonstrates a keen eye for detail Proficient user of NI TestStand and/or NI LabView (test script development) Good understanding of laboratory equipment (DMM, Oscilloscope, etc.) Proficient user of MS Office, specifically Word and Excel Proficient user of MS Visio (hardware development) Firm understanding of digital and analogue hardware and ability to debug using laboratory instruments Demonstrates an understanding of requirements management, configuration management, and an understanding of health & safety requirements applicable to office and laboratory environments Demonstrates good verbal and written communications Demonstrates commercial awareness Engineering or science degree, or equivalent experience Automated Test Equipment (ATE) experience Familiar and experienced with the use of a range of structured problem solving techniques Desirable: User of HarnWare extension to Visio User of CADStar Soldering experience Familiar with document management tools such as Enovia, WindChill, SmarTeam, etc Experience in the development and implementation of test strategy for board level, LRU, and systems as applied to the aerospace domain As a Senior Electrical Test Development Engineer, your main responsibilities will involve: Applies aerospace engineering principles and working knowledge to a range of difficult problems that require imaginative and practical solutions Researches, develops, designs and tests electronic components, equipment, controllers, devices and systems Performs electrical test tasks allocated by the Electrical Test management team from concept to introduction to use, taking particular account of value, design for re-use, safety, validation, and configuration management When using facilities and equipment, ensures that they are safe and serviceable Performs review of supporting documentation as directed, that defines the processes and procedures that control the governance and operation of electrical test activity Liaises with suppliers and coordinates with Supply Chain to ensure adherence to process and controlled introduction of equipment and services Collaborates with technical colleagues outside of the business unit/functional area as need in accomplishing objectives Mentors engineers within the team where appropriate, supporting the development of skills and capability in specialist subject areas Some Senior Engineers may take on informal leadership positions within small teams/groups to support project needs About Cobham Mission Systems As the world's leading supplier of critical control solutions, we help our customers to increase the safety and mission capabilities of their personnel and equipment in extreme environments.
