My client in Yeovil is seeking an R&T Engineer / Electronics Engineer for a minimum 6 month contract. £40 - £45 per hour PAYE depending on experience. Do you have: * A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline? * Demonstrable experience and understanding of the engineering principles required to develop technologies within the requirements of TRL3-6? If so, please read on! Main R&T Engineer / Electronics Engineer responsibilities: · Coordination and completion of R&T (Research & Technology) projects across a range of technologies but with a particular emphasis on the integration of air quality and other sensors into various aircraft systems and components. · Set deadlines, assign responsibilities when needed, monitor & summarise progress of tasks to project lead for those engineering activities assigned. · Undertake both electronics design work and hand-on testing / prototyping. · Lead their own work package through the product development cycle (typically from TRL3 to TRL6) and generate technical reports on the products/technologies, create test and analysis procedures that will either be executed by themselves or delegated to experienced test engineers. · Perform a variety of tasks which may include leading and directing the work of others. · Prepare reports for the project lead. · Utilise proven great communication skills to build internal and external customer relationships with the integrated project team, internal resource leadership, project management office leadership and the program manager, to drive the project forward to completion. Ideal candidate profile: · Experience with digital and analogue circuitry and be able to utilize FPGA's (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) is essential. · Experience with gas sensors or similar devices with SPI/UART outputs is a highly desirable. · Familiar with national and international standards, concepts, practices, and procedures. · Able to work in a process driven environment, to develop technologies and products in line with the requirements of DO-160 or equivalent standards in other industries. · A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. · Typically operates with a high degree of autonomy. · Experience of Aircraft Environmental Control Systems and/or Aircraft oxygen components is useful. · Experience of project-based R&T or NPI work in Aerospace or other engineering industries is appropriate to be successful in this role. Essential background: · Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline · Demonstrable experience and understanding of the engineering principles required to develop technologies within the requirements of TRL3-6 · High level of proficiency on Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel, · The ability to write technical reports to a high standard, and in English. · The ability to manage a complex project across international boundaries, with international stakeholders, whilst working from home due to Covid 19 · A proactive approach to problem solving · Ability to produce and talk to engineering presentations to a wide group of engineers and project management specialists. · Ability to work on UK and USA based projects with the appropriate security clearances. Beneficial skills: · Demonstrable experience of Project Engineering and Project control is desirable along with experience of using Microsoft Project · Demonstrable experience and understanding of the engineering principles of Environmental Control Systems (ECS) on aircraft, and the verification and validation processes in qualifying ECS equipment, · Oxygen components and system on aircraft, and the verification and validation processes in qualifying oxygen equipment, If you are interested in applying for this position and you meet the requirements, please apply immediately.
